A Feature Length Interview with Joseph O'Connor

A feature length episode with Joseph O’Connor who is an author and executive coach. This is a fascinating conversation about coaching from an experienced coach.

Joseph was a performer, teacher, and musician of the classical guitarist. He learnt important skills to develop as a performer and coach. After being a musician, he immersed himself in NLP and wrote several books on the subject. This was a starting point for his fascination in psychology of people.

As a coach he wants to help interesting people in the best way. He set up the International Coaching Community which has helped 16,000 coaches develop their skills and knowledge.

He has recently become fascinated by neuroscience and coaching. It is a complicated subject, and his book is trying to ‘iron out’ the difficulties and explain the subject in a clear way. This is new to coaching and understanding the brain can lead to insight coaching conversations.

We discuss the role of leaders in business and Joseph explains how he approaches an entrepreneur and a corporate business owner.

Joseph talks about how the brain is a prediction machine, how we use our experiences to create order and stability in the world. We often learn from our experiences and adapt our prediction machine so the brain can help predict the outcome of situations.

This will give you great insight into coaching and I know I’ve learnt things from this conversation.
